Hey guys, Yesterday, we took a day trip to Memphis! It was awesome, and we were total tourists. First, we stopped at the University of Memphis to visit their art museum. Unwilling to pay for parking, we had to park about half a mile off campus, but the flowers were in full bloom and it was beautiful day. The art part museum had a few interactive exhibits, and the Egyptian exhibit had a real mummy!! Max had to endure a long history lesson from me, because I am a total nerd. A few miles down the road, we stopped at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Odd place to stop, but Dionicio Rodriguez, a Mexican artist, built a grotto in the middle of the cemetery in the 1930s. The inside of the grotto was the life of Jesus, and many of the exhibits inside were made by other artists from different time periods. It was super cool and free!! Around 2 and absolutely famished, we headed to Jerry's Sno Cones! It was the coolest place. The line was extremely long, but the service was great! You ordered outside and waited for your food. We got bbq bacon burgers with fries and Tropical Punch Supreme sno cones. Their sno cones were unique, because they included ice cream! It was so good. I am craving another one as I write this post! We sat outside on the grass and devoured our food. Good prices and great food! 10/10 recommend!! Plus, they had a 'Before I Die' chalk board, and it is super cool to read while you eat! Last plan on the itinerary was the Lantern Light Festival. We headed out to Shelby Farms Park. It was such a neat park, and it was very modernized. It reminded me of a park you would see on the movie "The Giver." They had some porch swings facing the lake, and we took a load off of our feet and relaxed. Around 6:15, we decided to head to the festival. Shelby Farms was split in half by Walnut Grove Road, and we were on the opposite side of it. The festival was held at the Agricenter International. We got there around 6:45. Walking up, it looked sketchy and kind of like a bad fair. It was $20 dollars a person, which was a bit steep. It was still light when we got there, so we got food first. I was looking forward to some authentic Chinese food, but I was disappointed in the selection. There was only one place that sold it, and they only had two plate options. We decided to get BBQ nachos, and we literally had to wait for like 45 minutes. It was ridiculous. While we ate, we watched some of the live entertainment, which was different Chinese acts. Walking farther back, it opened up into another clearing with a ton of lanterns. It was very pretty. There was a ton of huge lanterns, but again, I think $20 bucks a person is a bit expensive. It was definitely a cool experience. Overall, it was a super cool experience, and we have already started talking about a few more things we want to do in Memphis. We are both excited as to where we will go next!!
